Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is a Brit-American sitarist as well as a music producer. She was first within her age bracket to be awarded the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shankar is among India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is both the daughter and pupil of Ravi Shankar. She was a child who bounded around from London and New Delhi. When she arrived in New Delhi, she made her first appearance at only 13 years old. After that, she relocated to Encinitas CA, where she received her High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha is an aspiring young lady, but she has a very impressive career in music and performance. Her father has accompanied her to numerous performances over many years. In 1998, she debuted her first self-titled album Anourag. The album was titled Live at Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year following. Her career on stage is vast as she has performed in most of the major stages in the world. Anoushka Shankar's career is not only limited to music. Bapi the Love of My Live, a biographical picture written in tribute to her father Ravi Shankar was published in 2002. Also, in films in 2003 she played the role in the film Dance Like a Man where she is a young Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka Shakar's professional career will continue to grow and expand. We can look at seeing lots of interesting things coming from her. Anoushka was born in England however, she spent the majority of her childhood between London as well as Delhi. Then she moved to California and enrolled in high school there. Anoushka started her music studies at age nine. Four years later she played her first sitar debut in Delhi at her father's 75th birthday celebration. Accompanying her father as his world tour, Anoushka racked up a wealth of experiences appearing on stage at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens. She performed at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival, and also performing together with George Harrison. She was the only female recipient of the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her artistry and musicianship as an outstanding musician from music in Asian Arts.
